Ministry of Mines Recruitment 2022: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has sought Applications from the Persons duly meeting Eligibility with Competency with reference to Appointment into the Post Assistant Geologist in the Geological Survey of India (GSI) under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.

Among the Eligible Persons, those who deem to have fulfilled the Eligibility in respect of the Assistant Geologist Posts, and Intend to submit their respective Candidatures, they may proceed with applying through Proper Channel, i.e., with a No-Objection Certificate issued by the Cadre Controlling Authority/Forwarding Authority as per the Instructions specified with reference to the Ministry of Mines Recruitment 2022 in the Union Public Service Commission Notification.

The UPSC issued a Recruitment Notification in reference to the Recruitment into the Assistant Hydrologist Position in the Geological Survey of India has been allocated 06 Vacancies including 05 Posts earmarked for General Merit Personnel.

Upper Age Limits: Not exceeding 30 years for Un-Reserved Category Candidates and also Economically Weaker Section Candidates as on Normal Closing Date. Scheduled Caste Candidates should not exceed 33 Years. As regards the Ex-Service-Men and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs shall be Upper Age is relaxable by 05-years subject to the condition that Post-attestation on the Closing Date for receipt of Applications the continuous Service rendered in the Armed Forces by any Ex-Service-Man is Minimum 06 (Six) Months. This Upper Age relaxation also remains available for the ECOs/SSCOs who have completed their Initial Period of Assignment of 05 (Five) Years of Military Service and whose Assignment has been extended beyond 05 (Five) Years as on the End Date of Online Registration of Application and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues Certificates that they will be released within 03 (Three) Months on Selection from the Date of Receipt of Offer of Appointment. The Candidates claiming the Age-relaxation under this Para would need to submit/produce a Certificate in the prescribed Proforma to the Union Public Service Commission.

Essential Qualification(s): Any Competent Applicant desirous of applying for the Assistant Hydrologist Post should have in possession the following Essential Qualifications in reference to the Assistant Hydrologist in the Geological Survey of India under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.

Educational Qualifications: The Eligible Candidate should have gained the following Academic and Professional Qualifications:

i) Master’s Degree in any Subject Branch; viz., Geology/Applied Geology/Geo-exploration/Mineral Exploration/Engineering Geology/Geo-chemistry/Marine Geology/Earth Science & Resource Management/Oceanography and Coastal Area Studies (Coastal Geology)/Environmental Geology/Geo-informatics from any Duly Recognized University/Institution Equivalent thereof; Or

Note 1: The UPSC at its discretion, may relax the Fore-stated Qualifications in case of the Candidates, otherwise, well-qualified.

Note 2: The Candidate’s Qualification(s) about the Experience(s) is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for the reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of those belonging to the Scheduled Caste Community, if at any Selection Stage, the UPSC is of the opinion that the sufficient number of the Candidates from this Reserved Community having the Requisite Experience are Unlikely to be available for filling the vacancies reserved for them.

UPSC Recruitment Test Selection and Other Criteria:

Note-I: The Recruitment Methodology for the Post Assistant Hydrologist to be exercised by the Union Public Service Commission will be as explained in the subsequent Sections.

Note-II: The Union Public Service Commission, in the event of Applications received in a large number from the Applicants, shall likely adopt the Shortlisting Criteria aimed at restricting the number of Eligible Candidates to be called for the Interview to a Reasonable Number by Any or More of the Methodologies as mentioned hereunder:

a) “On the basis of Desirable Qualification (DQ) or any one or all of the Desirable Qualifications (DQs) in case more than one Desirable Qualification is prescribed”.

b) On the basis of Higher Educational Qualifications than the Minimum Prescribed in the Advertisement.

c) On the basis of Higher Experience in the relevant field than the Minimum Prescribed in the Advertisement.

d) By counting the Prior Professional Work-Experience before or Post-acquiring Essential Qualifications.

e) By invoking the Prior Work Experience even in cases where there is No Experience mentioned Either as Essential Qualification (EQ) Or as Desirable Qualification (DQ).

f) By holding a Recruitment Test (RT).

Therefore the Candidate should mention all their respective Qualifications and Experiences in the relevant Field over and above the Minimum Qualifications.

Note-III: Important Points: Personality Test/Viva-voce weighs Total 100 Marks explained as hereunder:

i) The Category-wise Minimum Level of Suitability in the Interviews (100 Marks), irrespective of whether the Selection is made only through an Interview or by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the Interview, shall remain as follows:

a) Un-Reserved Minimum Qualifying 50 Marks to be secured out of Aggregate 100 Marks. b) Economically Weaker Sections 50 Marks. c) Other Backward Community: 45 Marks, c) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Caste/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 40 Marks.

ii) In cases where Selection is made by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the Personal Interview, the Candidate will have to achieve the Minimum Level of Suitability in their respective Categories at the Interview Stage.
