More than 22 crore MUDRA accounts received Rs 12.35 lakh crore in 4 years
According to the current guidelines, any individual who is otherwise eligible for a loan and has a business plan for non-farm income generating activities such as manufacturing, trading, services, and activities allied to agriculture and whose credit need is up to Rs.10 lakh is eligible to avail credit under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). The Minister also mentioned that the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) performed a broad nationwide sample poll to assess employment generation under PMMY. According to the survey results, PMMY contributed to the creation of 1.12 crore net extra jobs over a three-year period (i.e. from 2015 to 2018). Overall, the Shishu loan category accounts for around 66 percent of new employment generated by establishments owned by MUDRA recipients, followed by the Kishore (19 percent) and Tarun (15 percent) loan categories. However, data on job possibilities created under the PMMY Scheme is not centrally maintained, according to the Minister.
More specifically, the Minister indicated that, as on 26.11.2021, the number of PMMY loans issued across the country, including SC, ST, Minority, and Women Entrepreneurs, is as follows, based on data submitted by Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) on the Mudra portal:
