More than 7 Lakh Companies Formed with Make in India programme Announcement

‘Make in India,’ a significant national programme of the Government of India started on September 25, 2014, is a major national programme aiming to enable investment, stimulate innovation, construct best-in-class infrastructure, and make India a centre for manufacturing, design, and innovation. This was mentioned by Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.

The Minister also stated that the following companies were formed following the announcement of the ‘Make in India’ programme: –

More specifically, the Minister stated that 6,69,819 companies have Active status out of the 7,30,013 new companies incorporated between September 25, 2014 and March 31, 2021, and 1,12,207 companies have Active status out of the 1,12,697 new companies incorporated between April 1, 2021 and December 1, 2021.

The Minister noted that the development of a strong manufacturing sector is a top goal for the government. It was one of the first ‘Vocal for Local’ programmes to promote India’s manufacturing sector to the rest of the globe. ‘Make in India’ identifies ‘ease of doing business’ as the single most significant aspect in encouraging entrepreneurship, according to the Minister.
