NEET UG Hearing 2024: Supreme Court will Resume Hearings; Final Verdict Expected To be Delivered Today

NEET UG Hearing 2024: (National Eligibility and Admission Examination), the Supreme Court of India is going to hear arguments today regarding cancellation of NEET UG. 10:30 am is the time when hearing on several appeals that cover anything from exam cancellation to inconsistencies and purported paper leaks occurs. To resolve all NEET cases before noon, a three-judge panel made up of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices B Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra will hear all of the cases. The Supreme Court ordered the National Testing Agency, NTA, on 18th July to make available by Saturday the results of each NEET UG candidate, broken down by city and centre. The city-by-city center-by-center NEET Result 2024 was then announced by NTA.

Students had petitioned the Supreme Court following the 4th June announcement of the NEET Result 2024. Ten days ahead of schedule, the results were announced, but controversy shortly followed as many questioned why so many students received all 720 out of 720 scores. There were also reports of several students receiving grace marks, which the majority of students did not agree with. As a result, 1563 candidates had their tests rescheduled and their grace marks were recalled. Additionally, the results for the same were released. However, parents and students have insisted that there were too many concerns and inconsistencies to ignore.

The Supreme Court has acknowledged that the NEET UG paper did, in fact, leak in Bihar thus far in the prior proceedings. However, as the scope of the paper leak is assessed, there is disagreement about whether or not to cancel the NEET Exam. Additionally, IIT Madras was instructed to submit data analysis in order to determine whether the NEET Results were a sign of any widespread malpractices. Mass malpractice had been ruled out in this presented report. However because the director of IIT Madras is a member of the NTA Government Council, the petitioners have questioned the report’s accuracy and the institution’s “possible” bias.

NTA has insisted that the paper leak was limited and the outcome fell within reasonable bounds. Additionally, the scores were even with the retest and the removal of the grace marks. The shortened syllabus for the undergraduate medical and dentistry entrance exams is the reason for this year’s higher cut offs for the NEET UG results.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the NEET UG exam would only be cancelled in the event that it is determined that there was a widespread paper leak. After reviewing the petitioners’ claims in the prior hearing, the SC ordered NTA to provide more thorough findings. The hearing will be continued by the court today. CII had expressed its intention to wrap up the proceedings today and had requested definitive evidence. As the bench continues to hear the NEET UG Result 2024 pleas, check out the latest updates from the Supreme Court.
