No Extension for Filing GST Annual Return & GST Audit of FY 19-20!
As per a news update by the Business Line, the Finance Ministry has clarified that they have made no extension of due date for Filing GST Annual Return & GST Audit of FY 19-20.
Thus as expected, their has been no extension of due date for filing GSTR-9 & GSTR-9C as of now.

Due Date for filing GSTR-9 & GSTR-9C for FY 2019-20
Stakeholders may note that the due date for filing GST Annual Return for FY 2019-20 is 31st December 2020. Interestingly, a utility for filing GSTR-9 & GSTR-9C has been made available recently only.
What if GST Annual Return & GST Audit of FY 19-20 are not filed?
Late Fees for Filing GSTR-9
The Late Fees for filing Return is Rs. 200 per day (Rs. 100 in CGST Act and Rs. 100 in SGST/UTGST Act applicable). There is no late fees under IGST Act. This is subject to a maximum of 0.25% of the taxpayer’s turnover in the relevant state or union territory.
Optional GSTR-9 Filing
Please note that it is optional for registered taxpayers having aggregate Turnover up to Rs. 2 Cr. to file GSTR-9. Also note that it is optional for registered taxpayers having aggregate Turnover up to Rs. 5 Cr. to file GSTR-9C or GST Audit.
