Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya announced on Monday that the West Bengal government has determined that farmers will not be required to pay income tax on any agricultural output for the ensuing two financial years.

Two different types of cess on raw tea leaves have been temporarily eliminated, according to the state government.

The current agricultural income tax exemption period expires on March 31st, according to Bhattacharya, who presented the Budget Bill to the assembly.

She added that in order to assist sales taxpayers, the state government has implemented a “detailed and convenient” plan to address problems with tax arrears.

Bhattacharya stated in her budget address on February 15 that the income tax exemption on agricultural products would be maintained without the imposition of new taxes.

According to official sources, the West Bengal government has also resolved to fill thousands of openings in other sectors, including agriculture and minorities.
