No Internet? No Problem! GSTN Introduces New IMS Offline Utility (Version 1.0) to Simplify GST Filings
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has released a new Excel-based tool called the IMS Offline Utility (Version 1.0), aiming to make GST compliance easier and smoother for taxpayers. This tool is useful for taxpayers who usually prefer working or completing their tax compliance filings offline or generally face internet connectivity issues.
Through this IMS Offline Utility, the GST authorities have allowed taxpayers to download, work on, and upload their IMS (Information Management System) data on the system offline once ready. Meaning, now if taxpayers do not have high and consistent internet speeds, they can still complete their tax filings offline.
With this tool, businesses can now handle all their GST-related data in a simpler and more organised manner. Since the tool is Excel-based, most taxpayers will find it easy to operate without possession of any special technical knowledge. This tool will also help in reducing the chances of errors in filings and will ensure smoother GST filings, which will save both time and effort.
Through this major step, the tax authorities have tried to make the GST system more taxpayer-friendly. All taxpayers are advised to stay compliant and updated with this new utility to avoid last-minute hustles or issues during filing GST returns. Taxpayers will be able to access the IMS Offline Utility directly at the official GST portal.
