Pali District BJP President Seeks Relief for Tax Professionals, Urges Audit Deadline Extension:

BJP Pali district president Sunil Kumar Bhandari has requested Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend the deadline for filing tax audit reports for Assessment Year 2026-27.

In a letter dated September 23, Bhandari forwarded a representation from the Tax Bar Association, Pali, seeking an extension of the deadline from September 30, 2026, to October 31, 2026. The request also seeks a consequential extension for other statutory compliances linked to the tax audit.

The Tax Bar Association has cited the limited time available for completing tax audits as the main reason for the request. According to the representation, tax professionals were occupied with income-tax return filing work until August 31, 2026. The release and subsequent updates of income-tax utilities, along with the need for reconciliation and verification, have further reduced the time available for audits.

The association also pointed to the simultaneous workload related to GST, TDS/TCS and other statutory compliances, saying these have added to the pressure on tax professionals.

Bhandari has requested the Finance Ministry to consider the representation and use its powers under Section 119 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, to grant the requested extension and issue the necessary notification or order.
