Prasar Bharati Recruitment 2022: Prasar Bharati is hiring talented and experienced Video Editors to join Doordarshan Kendra, Mumbai Channel purely on an assignment basis. As a Video Editor, the assignee will be responsible for assembling recorded programs/video footage, applying artistic editing techniques, and creating finished broadcast-worthy projects that accurately reflect the vision of the Programme Producer/Director. The Video Editor, the assignee should have expert knowledge of modern video editing techniques, be able to visualize directorial concepts and work according to a strict time schedule. Ultimately, a top-notch Video Editor can perfectly translate a Producer/Director’s idea into a beautifully crafted program or edited video, worthy of broadcasting.

i. To apply for the post of a casual Video Editor purely on an assignment basis, a candidate should be a Graduate or Appear for the last year of Graduation from any recognized college or university.
ii. The candidate should have a diploma in Editing from any recognized institution. The course duration should be a minimum of one year.
iii. Previous work experience as a Video Editor (Hands-on experience with Video Editing skills) is certainly an added advantage.
i. A keen eye for detail and a critical mind.
ii. Creativity and a passionate interest in the program and video editing.
iii. Patience and concentration.
iv. The ability to listen to others and to work well as part of a team.
v. A high level of self-motivation, commitment and dedication.
vi. Organizational and time management skills.
vii. The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
viii. Communication skills, both written and oral.
ix. Ability to translate ideas into complete projects.
x. A candidate must also be creative in his/her approach to editing. Converting raw footage into an edited and finished product is the Key.
xi. A candidate will be responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that is suitable for broadcasting. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. This is a key role in the post-production process and your skills can determine the quality and delivery of the final product. You’ll usually work closely with the Producer/Director to achieve the desired end results.
i. Receiving a brief, and/or maybe an outline of footage and/or a shot list, script, or screenplay.
ii. Assembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer.
iii. Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer
iv. Creating a ‘rough cut’ (or assembly edit) of the programme and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages.
v. Re-ordering and fine-tuning the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the TV Programme/video.
vi. Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements.
vii. Suggesting or selecting music.
viii. You may also carry out online editing duties, which involve finalizing technical aspects such as correcting faulty footage, grading and coloring and adding special effects.
ix. Meeting with the Producer/Director to determine production vision.
x. Reviewing raw material to determine shot-listed visuals.
Candidates need to be extremely determined to succeed in editing, so they have to show a willingness to get involved and be prepared to do the most basic of tasks. Carrying out work experience, for example in other areas of media production will give them the chance to demonstrate this and help they to decide if the precision and intensity of the work is for them.
They’ll be expected to have pre-entry experience and will need to show evidence of having worked on TV Program or video production or post-production, preferably via an up-to-date and well-prepared showreel.
A selected Video Editor will be paid a remuneration of Rs 1980 per assignment. This amount is under revision. One assignment at times may require more than a day’s work. The cap on maximum assignments is eight per month.
