Rajasthan Discoms Must Pay Rs. 4200 Crore Compensatory Tariff to Adani Power: SC The Supreme Court of India (SC) in the matter of Adani Power & Rajasthan Discoms on thursday, ruled in favour of Adani Power stating three Rajasthan discoms were in violation of the top court's 2020 ruling requiring the payment of compensatory tariff to the Adani group firm. The discoms had not paid the dues despite the fact that their review petition had been dismissed earlier this year, according to the court. The court has ordered discoms to pay Adani Power a compensation tariff of Rs.4200 crore within four weeks. The electricity company has filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court, requesting that the compensation tariff of Rs.6738 crore be recovered from the discoms. So far, the discoms have paid a total of Rs.2426 crore. Adani Power claimed that the Rajasthan discoms had failed to comply with the Supreme Court's order requiring compensatory tariffs for power supplied by the firm beginning in 2013. Earlier in 2020, the Supreme Court upheld the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) ruling granting compensatory tariff to Adani Power's 1200MW Kawai facility. The Adani group firm has argued for a higher compensation tariff because to a lack of domestic coal connection and the import of Indonesian coal.
