SBI launches video life certificate facility for pensioners
The State Bank of India (SBI) has begun offering video life certificates to retirees. This new service will allow retirees to submit their life certificates through video from the comfort of their own homes. According to a press release released by SBI, this service is available to pensioners (other than family pensioners). As a result, the spouse of a pensioner receiving a government pension will be unable to use this option. According to SBI, the video life certificate process is paperless and free of charge.
“Now you may submit your #LifeCertificate from the convenience of your own home! Our #VideoLifeCertificate service, which will go live on November 1st, 2021, will allow seniors to submit their life certificates via a simple video chat “SBI posted from its official Twitter account.
To prevent having their pensions suspended, retirees and family pensioners must submit their life certificates before November 30 of each year. If the pensioner fails to present the life certificate, he or she will lose his or her pension.
If you are a pensioner with an SBI pension account, follow these steps to submit your Jeevan Patra before the deadline.
According to the tweet, a pensioner with an SBI pension account must follow the steps outlined below in order to submit their video life certificate.
Step 1: Visit pension seva website: www.pensionseva.sbi
Step 2: Click on Video LC to initiate the video life certificate process.
Step 3: Enter your SBI pension account number
Step 4: Enter the one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number with Aadhaar and click on ‘Submit’.
Step 5: Agree on terms and conditions and click on ‘Start Journey’.
Step 6: Keep your original PAN card ready and click on ‘I am ready’.
Step 7: You will be required to grant permission for starting the video call. Once the permission is granted, then you will be interacting with the SBI official as soon as he/she is available. Also, you have an option to schedule the interaction at your convenience.
Step 8: At the time of interaction with the SBI official, you will be required to read the 4-digit verification shown on your screen.
Step 9: Show your PAN card so that the bank official can capture it. As per SBI, you are not required to show your Aadhaar card anytime during the video life certificate. Only keep PAN card handy.
Step 10: The bank official will capture your picture and the video life certificate process is complete.
In the event that your video life certificate is rejected, you will be notified through SMS. In this case, you will need to go to your bank branch and submit a life certificate.
