Sirsa Traders Protest GST Harassment

Sirsa traders have alleged harassment by GST officials and demanded strict action against officers accused of corruption. The issue was raised during a meeting of the Haryana Pradesh Vyapar Mandal held under the chairmanship of its state president and former Haryana Confed chairman, Bajrang Garg.
Addressing the traders, Garg alleged that some GST officials were harassing businessmen for personal gain and creating fear among the trading community. He urged the government to take strict action against officials found misusing their powers.
Garg said traders and industrialists were paying their taxes honestly and should not be subjected to unnecessary raids or harassment. He clarified that the Vyapar Mandal does not support tax evasion, but honest businessmen should not be troubled.
He also said that there was very little scope for GST evasion because e-way bills are mandatory for consignments worth Rs 50,000 or more. In addition, businesses with an annual turnover of over Rs 5 crore are required to generate e-invoices.
