Special CBI court convicts former JD(U) Rajya Sabha MPs in LTC fraud case

A Special CBI court convicted former JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Sahani was found guilty in the LTC fraud case by a special CBI court for attempting to receive travel reimbursement in 2012 using counterfeit Air India e-tickets, according to officials.

CBI had registered the instant case on 31.10.2013 against Shri Anil Kumar Sahani, Member of Parliament(Rajya Sabha) and others. It was claimed that during the year 2012, Shri Anil Kumar Sahani conspired with M/s Air Cruise Travels Pvt Ltd., New Delhi, and others with the aim of defrauding the Government of India by claiming an erroneous reimbursement of Rs. 9,49,270/- incurred during a purported air journey along with other companions.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Shri Anil Kumar Sahani coordinated with the other accused individuals and sought to fraudulently withdraw TA/DA by passing off fake tickets and boarding cards as authentic while making no actual travel arrangements.

Charge Sheets were filed on October 23, 2015, against Shri Anil Kumar Sahani and others, according to the applicable IPC and PC Act sections, following an inquiry.

The matter is posted on 31.08.2022 for argument on quantum of sentence.
