Telangana Officials Caught in Rs 20 Lakh Bribery Case

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a tahsildar and a mandal surveyor for allegedly taking a Rs 20 lakh bribe to carry out a land survey and issue a joint inspection report in Rangareddy district.
The accused have been identified as tahsildar B. Sudershan Reddy and mandal surveyor Batuka Srinivasulu. Both officials were produced before a special court in Hyderabad and sent to judicial custody.
According to the ACB, the two officials initially demanded Rs 30 lakh from the complainant to conduct the land survey and issue a report needed for a proposed layout under Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) rules. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 20 lakh.
Following the complaint, ACB officials and the bureau’s Central Investigation Unit (CIU) carried out a trap operation on Monday. During the operation, the mandal surveyor allegedly accepted the money on the tahsildar’s instructions.
The ACB recovered the bribe money from the surveyor. A chemical test on his fingers also came back positive, indicating that he had touched the treated currency notes used in the operation.
Both officials were arrested and produced before the Special Court at Nampally in Hyderabad, which sent them to judicial custody. The ACB said further investigation into the case is underway.
