TN Trade Bodies requests CM to form GST High Level Advisory Committee
Trade organizations have asked Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to establish a state-level advisory body to represent their concerns to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council.
The GST Council, an apex member body, is in charge of modifying, resolving, or obtaining any rule or regulation pertaining to the context of the goods and services tax in India. The council is led by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
S Rethinavelu, founder and president of the Agro Food Chamber of Trade and Industry, requested that the CM form a ‘GST High Level Advisory Group’ with members of trade and industry to discuss and make decisions on issues to be brought before the GST Council.
The trade association backed the provision of Rs 10,500 crore for food subsidies under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
S. Rethinavelu remarked that they are unable to communicate their issues due to the complex and difficult implementation of GST.
He also remarked that the Budget will demonstrate a robust growth trend, in addition to Tamil Nadu’s balanced growth. The Agro Food Chamber insists that all youngsters eat millet-based breakfast or lunch meals for the sake of everyone’s health. This will also increase the income of farmers and food processors.
The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association Limited hailed the reduction in the state’s income gap because it demonstrated the state’s progress in all areas of development. However, no Samadhan Scheme announcement has been made, which is regrettable.
The state administration has yet to organize an advisory committee to consider the concerns that will be brought before the GST Council. According to the trade association, an advisory body comprised of their representatives and chaired by the state Finance Minister is required.
