TNPSC Recruitment 2023: The Tamil Nadu Prison Subordinate Service has announced vacancies for the posts of Assistant Jailor (Men) and Assistant Jailor (Women) in the Prisons and Correctional Services Department. The recruitment is open to eligible candidates, and only online applications will be accepted until 11th May 2023. As per TNPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the minimum age for all applicants is 18 years, and the maximum age limit varies for different categories of candidates. For candidates belonging to the “Others” category, the maximum age limit is 32 years as of 1st July 2023. However, there is no upper age limit for SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, and BCMs, as well as Destitute Widows of all castes.
As per TNPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the vacancies for Assistant Jailor (Men) and Assistant Jailor (Women) in the Tamil Nadu Jail Subordinate Service are shown after deducting 3% of vacancies reserved for meritorious sports persons. The number of vacancies indicated is approximate and subject to modification as per the Instructions to Applicants. The rule of reservation of appointments is applicable for this recruitment, and not more than 10% of vacancies under the direct recruitment quota shall be filled up from the categories of Warders, Grade-I, and Grade-II of the Tamil Nadu Jail Subordinate Service, who are graduates and have completed five years of service in their respective categories.

As per TNPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the age limit for applicants for the posts of Assistant Jailor (Men) and Assistant Jailor (Women) in the Prisons & Correctional Services Department included in the Tamil Nadu Jail Subordinate Service is different for different categories.
For the ‘Others’ category i.e. applicants who do not belong to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, and BCMs, the minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 32 years. This means that applicants belonging to this category should have completed 18 years of age as of 01.07.2023 but should not have completed 32 years of age as of the same date.
On the other hand, for applicants belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, and BCMs, and destitute widows of all castes, there is no maximum age limit. However, the minimum age limit is the same as for the ‘Others’ category, i.e. 18 years.
As per TNPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the educational qualification required for the post is a Bachelor’s degree from any of the Universities recognized by the University Grants Commission. The degree should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the order of studies 10th + HSC or its equivalent + Bachelor’s Degree Course. The results of the examination should have been declared on or before the date of notification. Applicants claiming equivalence of qualification to the prescribed qualification should submit evidence for equivalence of qualification in the form of a Government Order issued on or before the date of this notification.
Regarding physical qualifications, applicants must satisfy the Medical Board in Tamil Nadu as to their physical fitness and capacity for active outdoor work. They should obtain a certificate of physical measurement from a Medical Officer, above the rank of an Assistant Surgeon appointed by the Government to a Government Medical Institution. The certificate should contain height, chest (on full expiration and full inspiration), and difference (expansion) in cms. The measurements should be specified only with reference to the metric system, and the certificate of physical measurement should be uploaded along with the online application. Applicants selected for appointment to the post will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness, and the model format is enclosed with Annexure II of the Notification.
As per TNPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection procedure for the exam will be done in a single stage based on the total marks obtained by the applicants in the written examination. The selection will be made based on the rule of reservation of appointments. It is also mentioned that applicants who have not appeared for any of the papers in the written examination will not be considered for selection, even if they secure the minimum qualifying marks for selection.

As per TNPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, to apply for the post, applicants must apply online through the Commission’s website and complete a Time Registration process, paying a fee of Rs.150. Once successfully registered, applicants can use their One Time Registration ID and password to apply for the post. Scanned copies of their photograph, certificates, and signature are required for uploading during the Time Registration process.
After submitting the application, applicants can save or print their application in PDF format. Applicants cannot create more than one registration ID, and all particulars mentioned in the online application will be considered final. Applicants are allowed to edit their online application during the Online Application Correction Window period, as specified in the notification, and they need not send the printout of the application or any supporting documents to the Commission.
