IIT Kharagpur – Indian Institute of Technology

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) is a public technical university in Kharagpur, founded by the Indian government. Founded in 1951, the institute is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. It was the first of the IITs to be formed. The Government of India bestowed the title of Institute of Eminence on it in 2019.

After the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur (founded as B.E. College in 1856), Jadavpur University (founded as Bengal technical institute in 1906), and Rajabazar Science College, IIT Kharagpur is the state’s fourth oldest technical institute (established as Calcutta University campus for Science and Technology in 1914).

Jadavpur University is a public technical university in Jadavpur. It was founded as Bengal Technical Institute in 1905 and renamed Jadavpur University in 1955. The National Institutional Ranking Framework placed it 5th among Indian universities in 2020.

IIEST Shibpur – Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (IIEST) is one of India’s oldest engineering institutes in West Bengal, founded in 1856. The NIRF 2021 recently ranked IIEST 46th in the overall category and 27th in engineering.

IIEST currently offers 45 courses in Engineering, Science, and Management at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The main curriculum at IIEST Shibpur is the B.Tech, available in nine specialities. IIEST B.Tech admissions are determined by the JEE Main entrance test and JoSAA/CSAB counselling.

NIT Durgapur – National Institute of Technology

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) is a public technical university in Durgapur, West Bengal, India. It was previously known as Regional Engineering College, Durgapur. It is one of India’s oldest technical universities, established in 1960. The campus of this leading engineering college in West Bengal is spread across 187 acres. In 2020, NIRF ranked this university 96th (overall) and 47th (engineering). It is an AICTE-accredited, NBA-accredited, and UGC-approved institution.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology [MAKAUT]

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) was formerly known as the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). It is a public state university in Kalyani. Established in 2001, The West Bengal government entirely supports it. The university offers management and engineering degrees through associated institutions and in-house departments. The college is ranked 158 in 2020 by NIRF.

Institute of Engineering and Management

The Institute of Engineering and Management, founded in 1989 by the IEM Group, is West Bengal’s first self-financed engineering college. The institute is located in Kolkata, West Bengal’s I.T. capital. Institute of Engineering and Management is associated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, formerly known as the West Bengal University of Technology, and is approved by the AICTE. The NAAC has given IEM a grade of A with a score of 3.25. In 2019, the Institute of Engineering and Management ranked 101st among engineering colleges.

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology – GNIT

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology was founded in 2003 by the JIS Group and is located in Panihati, Sodpur, a suburb of Kolkata. The college is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Technology and is AICTE-approved. There is a specific placement cell on this campus. Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) is a technology institute in Kolkata, West Bengal, founded in 2001. It was founded by the Kalyan Bharti Trust, a public charitable organization. Heritage Institute of Technology is a self-contained institute affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).

JIS College of Engineering

It is connected with West Bengal’s Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT, W.B.).

In 2021, NIRF has the institute ranked in the range of 201–250. The institute has been placed in Band B (Rank Between 26th and 50th) among Private or Self-Financed College/Institutes in India in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020.

Narula Institute of Technology (NIT) is an independent private engineering institution in West Bengal, located in Agarpara, Kolkata. The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology is associated with the college (MAKAUT). It is one of seven colleges affiliated with the JIS Group, a Sikh minority organization that is also a member of the Association of Minority Professional Academic Institutes (AMPAI). Narula Institute of Technology was placed 160th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2019.
