Tata Teleservices Faces TRAI Penalty Over Spam

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited has recently received a financial penalty of Rs 1.02 lakh from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for failing to control unsolicited commercial communications (UCC), commonly known as spam calls and messages, through its network.
In a regulatory filing dated October 31, 2026, the company said it received the TRAI order on October 30, 2026. The penalty relates to the quarter ended December 2024 and was imposed under the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018.
TRAI's action is connected to the company's alleged failure to prevent unsolicited commercial communications from being sent through its network, as required under the regulations.
The company said it is reviewing the order and evaluating the next steps. It added that the financial impact of the order is limited to the penalty amount of Rs 1.02 lakh.
The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
