UGC Re constructed Curriculum and Credit Structure for Postgraduate Program

Prof. Manish R. Joshi, Secretary of the University Grants Commission, issued a Public notice yesterday i.e., 14th June 2024, at ugc.gov.in.

In that Notice, he stated that the National Education Policy 2020 has made specific recommendations about the restructuring of postgraduate programs. These proposals include one-year PG, two-year PG, PG diploma, and exit provisions for students completing a two-year program after the first year. In line with the suggestions of NEP 2020, UGC has created a framework for postgraduate programs.

The Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programs is a proposal that all Higher Educational Institutions (HEls) embrace.

The revised degree programs, entry and exit procedures, etc., were taken into consideration by UGC when developing the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programs. The framework, which offers students flexibility, freedom, and options, is evidence of student empowerment. The framework, which outlines the credit structure and course content for both one- and two-year postgraduate programs, is free of discipline-specific entrance requirements. also provides a two-year postgraduate program exit option at the conclusion of the first year.

The Postgraduate Program Curriculum and Credit Framework was created by UGG and the Expert Committee under the direction of Prof. K. K. Pant for creating the Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate Programs.
