WBPRB Recruitment 2023: The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) is responsible for the recruitment of personnel into the West Bengal Police force. The WBPRB operates under the jurisdiction of the West Bengal Police Department and is headquartered in Kolkata. The WBPRB conducts various recruitment drives for different positions in the police department, including Lady Constables. The Lady Constable recruitment for 2023 has recently been announced, and eligible female candidates are invited to apply.

As per WBPRB Recruitment 2023 official notification, to be eligible for the post of Lady Constable, candidates must meet certain age and educational requirements. They must be between 18 to 30 years of age as of 01.01.2023 and must have passed the Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent. Candidates must also be proficient in the Bengali language, except for those who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts. Candidates who have completed three years of service as Home Guard/NVF personnel or Civic Volunteers serving under the West Bengal Police are also eligible to apply.

As per WBPRB Recruitment 2023 official notification, the recruitment process for Lady Constables is transparent and based purely on merit, as per the WBPRB’s official statement. As per WBPRB Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligibility criteria for the application are as follows:

Citizenship: The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Age: The applicant must not be less than 18 (eighteen) years old and must not be more than 30 (Thirty) years old as of 01/01/2023. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST applicants of West Bengal and 3 years for OBC applicants of West Bengal. There is also age relaxation available for NVF and Home Guards Personnel serving in West Bengal Police as per existing government rules. However, age relaxation is not available to Civic Volunteers.

Educational Qualification: The applicant must have passed the Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.

Language: The applicant must be able to speak, read and write the Bengali language. However, this provision will not be applicable to persons who are permanent residents of the hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts. For the applicants of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, the provisions laid down in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 will be applicable.

Selection Process for WBPRB Recruitment 2023:

As per WBPRB Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection process for Lady Constable in West Bengal Police Recruitment:

The recruitment process for Lady Constable in the West Bengal Police consists of the following stages:

  1. A. Preliminary Written Test
  2. B. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  3. C. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  4. D. Final Written Examination E. Interview

Preliminary Written Test:

The Preliminary Written Test is an MCQ-based screening examination with 100 objective-type questions carrying one mark each. The test duration is one hour and will be conducted in Bengali and Nepali languages. The test covers General Awareness and General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, and Reasoning. There will be negative markings for each incorrect answer, and 1/4th of the allotted marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The qualifying marks for this test will be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT):

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Written Test will undergo a Physical Measurement Test (PMT) where their physical standards such as height and weight will be tested using electronic machines.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Candidates who qualify in PMT will participate in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which includes an 800-meter run to be completed in four minutes and thirty seconds. Timing will be taken with the help of Radio Frequency Identification Device technology. The PMT and PET are qualifying in nature, and only one chance will be given.

Final Written Examination:

The Final Written Examination is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) test with 85 questions carrying one mark each. The duration of the exam is one hour, and it will be conducted in Bengali and Nepali languages, except for English language questions. The test covers General Awareness and General Knowledge, English, Elementary Mathematics, and Reasoning and Logical Analysis. Negative marking will be done for incorrect answers, with 1/4th of the allotted marks for each incorrect answer deducted. The qualifying marks for this test will be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

Interview:

Candidates who qualify in the Final Written Examination will be called for an Interview. The interview will test the candidate’s general awareness, suitability for public service, and ability to speak, read and write in Bengali/ Nepali (for the permanent residents of Hill Subdivisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts). The interview is worth 15 marks.

Based on the marks obtained in the Final Written Examination and Interview, a merit list of provisionally selected candidates will be prepared by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
