What if ITR Filing Due Date Falls on Weekend? Will Same stand extended to Monday?

As per 9th Question of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Income Tax Return (ITR) filing issued in 2012:
The last date of filing falls on Saturday/Sunday. Can I file my ITR on a subsequent Monday?
Ans: Yes
Although as per my understanding this means “The ITR can be filed, but it would still be belated.”
This nowhere means that the department is saying that the due date will be stand extended to Monday if the Due Date of Filing is Saturday or Sunday.
