Company Disputes Rs 296.45 Cr Demand, Plans Legal Action Against Notice

Zuari Agro Chemicals get Rs. 296 Cr Demand Notice for old water and sewerage charges
Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited told the stock exchanges BSE and NSE that it got a hefty demand notice from a government office in Goa. This came under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Rules. The letter, dated April 21, 2026, landed at the company’s doorstep on April 28 from the Executive Engineer’s office in Fatorda.
The government wants Zuari Agro to pay Rs 296,45,99,341, and they’ve given just 15 days to do it. This bill supposedly covers old water and sewerage charges. The number’s big, and the notice claims these are overdue payments.
Zuari Agro is not taking this lying down. They say they’ve always followed every rule and paid every bill on time, so they completely disagree with the demand. The company flat-out says this claim is not fair and plans to fight it.
They’re getting ready to contest the notice through legal channels. Despite the amount being Rs 296.45 crore, they’re not admitting any responsibility for it and will use every remedy the law offers to challenge the claim.
