WhatsApp adds safety features such as Flash Calls and Message Level Reporting

In India, WhatsApp has added new security features called Flash Calls and Message Level Reporting. Flash calls are an extra layer on top of the SMS verification used during the WhatsApp signup process. While setting up a WhatsApp account, users can verify their phone number with an automated call.

Only Android users may use WhatsApp Flash Calls for now. In the following days, the feature should be available for iOS. Without having to rely on SMS verification, WhatsApp may call the person and verify their identity. This type of verification, according to the business, is a safer choice because it takes place within the app itself.

WhatsApp’s Message Level Reporting function makes it easy for users to report messages. Long-pressing a message will either report or block the user. The new WhatsApp security capabilities are an addition to the platform’s already extensive array of security features. WhatsApp allows users to choose who can view their profile photo, status, last seen, and contact information. It also allows users to define preferences for group invites, such as not allowing others to add them to a group without their permission. WhatsApp also allows users to restrict a specific account if necessary.

In other news, WhatsApp for desktop is expected to acquire several privacy features that have previously only been available on the smartphone version. Users can now have additional control over the privacy features in WhatsApp for desktop beta 2.2146.5. From the WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for desktop apps, users will be able to manage their last seen, profile photo, and about pages. There’s no news yet on when the WhatsApp privacy features will be available to all desktop and web app users.
