ED files Prosecution against individuals involved in black marketing of Remdesivir

Enforcement Directorate filed a Prosecution Complaint against Rahul Bardhan, Biswajit Das, and Ms. Nishita Kanodia for black marketing of Remdesivir (made in Bangladesh)

On March 30, 2022, the Directorate of Enforcement filed a Prosecution Complaint against Rahul Bardhan, Biswajit Das, and Ms. Nishita Kanodia for illegally selling and black marketing Remdesivir (manufactured in Bangladesh) injection vials during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021. The Hon’ble Special Court (PMLA), Kolkata, has taken cognizance.

The Enforcement Directorate began an inquiry in the aforementioned case on the basis of an FIR lodged by Kolkata Police on April 26, 2021, of IPC and u/s 18,18A, & 27(c) read with 36AC of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. Rahul Bardhan maintained an unlawful network of black marketing for Bangladeshi-made Remdesivir, which he sold at excessive costs through the other two accused.

Earlier this year, the ED attached the proceeds of crime obtained through the unlawful sale of such substances belonging to Rahul Bardhan and Ms. Nishita Kanodia under the PMLA.

More research is being conducted.
