The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Superintendent, CGST & Central Excise, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.2 lakh from the Complainant.

According to the officials, Ankur Khandelwal and Chetan Saxena, both superintendents in the CGST and Customs Excise department in Bhopal, allegedly sought Rs.10 lakh from a businessman to settle a pending tax issue.

A case was registered against two Superintendents of CGST & Central Excise, Arera Hills, Bhopal on complaint alleging therein about demand of undue advantage of Rs.10,00,000/- from Complainant for settling the CGST case against his partnership firm. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept bribe of Rupees Two lakh from the Complainant on 20.04.2022.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting bribe of Rupees Two lakh from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused at Bhopal which led to recovery of incriminating documents/articles.

On Thursday, the apprehended accused appeared before a special judge for CBI cases in Bhopal.
