UDISE+ Report 2021-22: Unified District Information System for Education Plus Report

The Union Education Ministry released the detailed report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2021-22 on school education of India.

What is UDISE:

The Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) was launched in 2012–2013. One of the biggest management information systems for education in schools.
It includes more than 26.4 billion kids and more than 15 lakh schools. In this system, data was manually entered into the computer after being filled out on paper first. This approach, however, is prone to mistakes and abuse.

What is UDISE+:

An enhanced version of UDISE, called UDISE+, collects school data online and in real-time.
Its purpose is to fix problems with the UDISE system, like data mistakes and delays.
The Department of School Education and Literacy created UDISE+ in 2018–19. Improvements were made to the UDISE+ system in the areas of data collecting, data mapping, and data verification.

UDISE+ report data (2020-21):

From primary to higher secondary education, 25,38 crore students has been enrolled in schools in 2020–21. Compared to 2019–20, there are 28.32 lakh more students enrolled.
At all levels of schooling, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) improved in 2020–21 compared to 2019–20.
There were 96.96 lakh teachers working in education year 2020–21. Compared to 2019–20, there is an increase of 8800 teachers.
In 2020–2021, 39.7 lakh pupils from private and government-aided institutions transferred to public schools. This demonstrates how COVID-19 has affected education.

Admissions:

25.57 crore students enrolled in school from primary through higher secondary in 2021–2022. When compared to the 2020–21 UDISE+ figures, this represents an increase of 19.36 lakh.
A total of 4.82 billion students from scheduled castes were enrolled overall between 2021 and 2022, up from 4.78 billion students in 2020–21.

The number of members of the scheduled tribes rose from 2.49 crore in 2020–21 to 2.51 crore in 2021–22.
OBC student enrollment climbed as well, rising from 11.35 crore in 2020–21 to 11.48 crore in 2021–22.

The performance of the primary, upper primary, and higher secondary levels in 2021–22 has improved when compared to that of 2020–21 in terms of the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), which gauges the overall level of involvement. Higher secondary GER performance notably increased from 53.8% in 2020–21 to 57.6% in 2021–22.
The overall number of students with special needs (CWSN) in 2021–2022 is 22.67 lakh, up 3.45% from 21.91 lakh in the previous academic year.

Number of Teachers:

95.07 lakh teachers will be working in education in 2021–2022. Teachers who are women make up more than half of this group.
Compared to the numbers for 2020–21, the overall number of instructors has decreased by 1.95 percent in 2021–22. The proportion of instructors who solely teach in the elementary grades (34.4%) and upper primary grades (18.9%) has decreased from 2021 to 2022.
The number of teachers decreased in 2021–2022 compared to the previous year at government schools by 0.9%, government aided schools by 1.45%, private schools by 2.94%, and other schools by 8.3%.

In Uttar Pradesh, the most pupils were enrolled in government schools and the most teachers were hired.
In 2021–22, the primary Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) is 26, the upper primary PTR is 19, the secondary PTR is 18, and the higher secondary PTR is 27. When compared to the figures for 2018–19, this represents a significant improvement.

Number of Girls Students:

12.29 crore girls enrolled in primary through higher secondary education in 2021–2022. When compared to the 2020–21 report, this represents an increase of 8.19 lakh.
According to the Gender Parity Index of GER, girls and women are equally represented in school education and in the population of the same age group. This demonstrates that the number of girls attending school has increased.

Facilities and Schools:

From 15.09 lakhs in 2020–21 to 14.89 lakhs in 2021–22, the total number of schools. In one year, more than 20,000 schools have been closed. The closing of private and other management schools as well as the grouping or clustering of schools by different states may be to blame for this.
Only 27% of schools have CSWN-specific restrooms, and more than 49% of these facilities have handrail-equipped ramps.
Only 44.85% of schools had computer labs, and only about 34% had internet access.
In 2021–22, there will be playground equipment at about 77% of schools. This is a 3.4% increase from 2018–19.
In 2021–22, nearly 27.7% of schools had a kitchen garden, a 32% increase from 2018–19.
Fit India Schools has accredited 98 lakh schools, or 33% of all schools.
