Union Education Ministry Released Performance Grading Index (PGI) for States/UTs for 2020-21
The Department of School Education and Literacy Union Education Ministry released the Performance Grading Index (PGI) for States/UTs for 2020-21.
About Performance Grading Index:
The Performance Grading Index (PGI) is a special index that offers a thorough, evidence-based evaluation of the educational system in every state and union territory. It offers information about the effectiveness and accomplishments of the Indian school system. The PGI report has so far been made public for the fiscal years 2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20. The most recent report is for 2020–21.
The PGI framework awards 1,000 points for 70 indicators that fall under the Outcomes and Governance Management categories. Five domains are again created by dividing the two categories:
The PGI assigns ten grades to the states and union territories. The highest grade attainable is Level 1, where states and UTs have scored more than 950 out of a possible 1,000 points. Level 10 receives the lowest mark, with states and UTs scoring less than 551.
To encourage evidence-based policymaking and raise the standard of education in India, the PGI will use its thorough evaluation of the school education system in various states and UTs.
The index’s ultimate goal is to encourage states and UTs to conduct multifaceted actions that will produce the necessary ideal educational outcomes across all aspects. Governments will be assisted in identifying gaps so that priority responses can be made.
States and UTs perform in the PGI 2020-21?
