Akzo Nobel India gets lower GST Demand in appeal order from Telangana Department
Akzo Nobel India Limited has been served with an appeal order against the Telangana GST Department’s order that demanded Rs.21,85,751 which has since been lowered to Rs.14,77,341, as per an exchange filing.
The Telangana GST Department sent the paint manufacturer a demand order on 2 January 2024, for the July 2017–March 2020 period, which disqualified the input tax credit under section 73 of the CGST/ SGST Act, 2017 and included a demand of Rs.21,85,751 plus a penalty of Rs.1,98,704.
After reviewing the aforementioned appeal, the Telangana GST Department’s Commissioner of Appeals issued an Appeal Order on August 20, 2024, which the company received on October 18, 2024. The order included a demand of Rs. 14,77,341 along with a penalty of Rs. 1,98,704 in total.
Within the allotted time, the company is likely to challenge the demand order before the appropriate authorities.
