Tata Consumer Products Limited announced that it received an assessment order under Section 143(3) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, from the Assistant Commissioner of Income-tax, Circle 4(1), Kolkata.
The order, which was issued on March 31, 2025, refers to the income tax return filed for the financial year 2021-22.
The assessment proposes specific additions/disallowances for the company’s returned income, resulting in a demand of Rs.2,62,08,81,870 (roughly Rs.262 crore), including interest.
In a filing with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited on April 1, 2025, Tata Consumer Products claimed that it feels the demand is unsustainable and is preparing an appeal against the order.
The company added that the aforementioned order has no immediate impact on the company’s finances, operations, or other activities. The disclosure was made pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
