Rs. 1.85 Lakh Crore Collected in June: But There’s a Twist in GST Growth

According to the government data displayed Tuesday, in the month of June, India collected a total Goods and Services Tax (GST) of Rs. 1.85 lakh crore, indicating an increase of 6.2% in comparison to the previous year in the same month.

However, in comparison to the previous month (May 2025), a decrease has been noticed in GST collection. In April and May 2025, the GST collection was noted as Rs. 2.37 lakh and Rs. 2.01 lakh, respectively.

In June, the collections from Central GST, State GST, Integrated GST, and cess all went up compared to the same month last year. GST collections for the financial year 2024-25 have grown by 9.4% as compared to the last financial year 2023-24, which collected Rs. 20.18 lakh. This GST collection is recognized as the highest in any given year since the taxation system was introduced in July 2017.

It should be noted that the domestic GST collections for June 2025 have shown varied results. Overall, the growth looks slow, though there is a good chance that the tension in the world is somehow impacting how confident people are in spending their money.

States and regions like Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Lakshadweep, and Ladakh have shown strong growth, according to the data.

In financial year 2022-23, GST collection stood at Rs. 18.08 lakh crore, while Rs. 1.84 lakh GST collected in the financial year 2021-22. GST started on July 1, 2017, and completed eight years this Monday.

In accordance with the government, the average monthly GST collection has increased constantly to Rs 1.84 lakh crore in the financial year 2024-25, from Rs 1.68 lakh crore and Rs 1.51 lakh crore in the financial year 2023-24 and the financial year 2021-22, respectively.
