The Ministry of Finance, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has released a corrigendum through Notification No. 64/2026 dated 16th April, 2026, to make some corrections in the Income-tax Rules published on March 20, 2026.

This corrigendum does not introduce any new rules, but it only corrects mistakes such as wrong references, spelling errors, typing errors, numbering and formatting issues in the earlier notification dated March 20th, 2026.

Key Changes

Here are some key changes introduced in the latest notification:

  • Several incorrect references to “section” have been corrected to “rule”, where applicable.
  • Many numbering issues have been corrected.
  • Typing mistakes like “adjustme t” and “articulars” have been rectified with the correct spellings.
  • In multiple places, “PAN/Aadhaar” has been replaced with just “PAN”.
  • Some fields related to Aadhaar have been removed from certain forms.
  • formatting errors in notes, annexures, and tabular data have been corrected.

These corrections aim at making the rules clearer and more accurate. The rectification reduces confusion for taxpayers, accountants, and companies filing returns, making compliance easier.
