Anti Dumping duty imposed on import of Methyl Cyanide: Read CBIC Notification
The Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) issued an official notification [16/2025-Customs (ADD)] on 19 June, 2025 related to the matter of “Acetonitrile” (hereinafter referred to as the subject goods) falling under subheading 2926 90 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) (hereinafter referred to as the Customs Tariff Act). The ministry has implemented anti-dumping duty on imports of acetonitrile exported from China, Russia and Taiwan into India. This decision was agreed upon after the final findings of the designated authority (refer to notification No. 06/04/2024-DGTR, dated 21st March, 2025) published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part I, Section 1, dated the 21st March, 2025.
The findings were enough to believe the fact that these imports were being sold in India at below normal value, marking a significant loss for the Indian market. The conclusion of the report is:
The DGTR recommended the Central Government to impose anti-dumping duty (on the basis of its findings) on the imports of acetonitrile being imported into India from China, Russia, and Taiwan so that the Indian market suffers no loss.
In response to this recommendation, the Central Government has now released this notification, announcing the imposition of anti-dumping duty on acetonitrile.
Refer to the official notification for more details.
