Bank Holidays in Feb 2023: Banks to Remain Closed on these days in February; Check Details The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) in its holiday calendar has announced that banks in India will remain closed for 9-10 days in February this year. The holidays include various festivals, second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. The banks remain open on the first and third Saturdays every month. Some of these bank holidays will be state-specific, but on national holidays, banks will be closed nationwide. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has classified the holidays into three categories: holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. Here's the full list of Bank holidays in February 2023: 5 February: Sunday. 11 February: Second Saturday. 12 February: Sunday. 15 February: Bank will remain closed in Imphal due to Lui-Ngai-Ni. 18 February: Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Dehradun, Hyderabad (AP and Telangana), Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram due to Mahashivratri (Maha Vad-14)/Sivarathri. 20 February: Banks will remain closed in Aizawl due to State Day 21 February: Banks in Gangtok will stay closed due to Losar. Losar is the Tibetan New Year, which occurs in February and is also celebrated by inviting friends and relatives to family gatherings. Two days before Losar, the Gutor Chaam is performed at Rumtek monastery, symbolising the conflict between good and evil and the ritualised elimination of evil. 25 February: Fourth Saturday 26 February: Sunday Because most of these festivals are regional, only banks in the state will be closed during the festive season. According to the Reserve Bank of India, all of these holidays are covered by the Negotiable Instruments Act. All branches of public and private sector banks, foreign banks, cooperative banks, and regional banks will be closed on the bank holidays declared by the RBI. The online and net banking services will continue to operate. As a result, if you plan to visit your bank office for any critical banking business, the holiday calendar will come in handy.
