BJP MP Urges Finance Minister to Extend ITR Filing Deadline for AY 2025-26
A BJP Member of Parliament and Former Union Minister of State, named Shri PP Chaudhary Ji, has recently sent a representation [SN: 2025/F-1/19965], dated September 03, 2025, addressing the Honourable Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, urging the government to extend the ITR (Income Tax Return) filing due date.
In the representation, he claimed that he is forwarding the representation received from the Tax Bar Association, Jodhpur, which was regarding the request for ITR (Income Tax Return) and (TAR) Tax Audit Report due date extension for the financial year 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26).
The association cited several reasons for this request, like the delay in the release of ITR utilities this financial year, technical glitches in the Income Tax Portal during peak days, and the introduction of new reporting formats for non-cooperative entities by ICAI, which has created considerable compliance difficulties for taxpayers and professionals. Because of these reasons, taxpayers are left with very limited time to comply with the income tax rules. Hence, the association has requested the government to grant some extra time for correct and stress-free filing.
At the end of the representation, the association politely requested the government to immediately look into the matter and consider their representation appropriately.
