Breaking: CBI attaches Properties worth over 7 Crores of IT Officer in Disproportionate Assets case

In a case involving disproportionate assets, the Special Judge, Anti Corruption, CBI Court No. 1, Ghaziabad, issued an ad-interim judgment on June 2, 2025, allowing the seizure of 14 properties owned by the Additional Commissioner of Income Tax at the time.

On September 22, 2022, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case against the then-Additional Commissioner of Income Tax for Disproportionate Assets. The accused allegedly engaged in corrupt activities and amassed disproportionate assets of Rs. 7,52,61,831/-to his known source of income, which he is unable to adequately account for, while serving as a public servant in income tax offices in New Delhi, Moradabad, Lucknow, and other locations from January 1, 2008, to June 30, 2018.

14 immovable assets valued at crores were discovered to have been bought or possessed by the accused and his family members over the course of the investigation. These properties may be found in Goa, Barabanki, Hardoi, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad.

The investigation is still ongoing.
