Breaking: GST superintendent & Deputy Commissioner suspended in matter of CGST Gurugram Refund Case In the matter of CGST Gurugram Refund Case where 2 Chartered Accountants (CAs) were arrested for fraudulent GST Refund of Rs. 20 Cr, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) has suspended the GST superintendent & Deputy Commissioner. 2 CAs arrested for fraudulent GST Refund of Rs.20 Cr; GST Dept response to Detention Smt Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) delegation, led by Vice President Shri Aniket Sunil Talati. The MoF had invited the ICAI on Saturday to discuss various issues, including ongoing investigations by CGST Gurugram into the alleged role of their members in fraudulent GST refunds. ICAI to ensure that CA's are not made soft target The representatives of the ICAI were informed of the suspension of a Deputy Commissioner of GST on Sunday and a superintendent on Saturday itself. Smt Nirmala Sitharaman was appreciative of the steps taken by the ICAI on engagement with stakeholders. The ICAI representatives informed Smt Nirmala Sitharaman that they'll continue to use the recently-enacted 'CA, CWA and CS Act' for the inculcation of professional discipline & integrity among its members. CBIC Chairman Shri Vivek Johri was also present during the meeting.
