CA arrested for accepting bribe of Rs.2 lakh for clearing Income Tax files A Chartered Accountant (CA) was detained on Tuesday by a special team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs.2 lakh in exchange for assisting a person in an income-tax inquiry against him and clearing some of his files. The accused asked a bribe of Rs.5 lakh, claiming that he was accepting it in order to give it to income tax officers. A complainant approached ACB headquarters and alleged that a chartered accountant demanded a bribe of Rs.5 lakh in exchange for assisting him in an income tax inquiry against his firm. "The accused promised him that by paying a bribe, his problem would be solved, and that he would be able to close the investigation against the complaint that was pending with the IRS.
