CBI arrests a Recovery Officer of DRT for accepting bribe of Rs. 70000 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Recovery officer, DRT-I, Chandigarh for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.70,000/- from the Complainant. A case was registered on a complaint against Recovery Officer, DRT-I, Chandigarh. It was alleged that the Complainant had submitted a bid in an auction for purchasing the Plant & Machinery. As he was the highest bidder, he deposited total amount within stipulated time. It was further alleged that the Complainant submitted affidavit in DRT-I office mentioning therein that some Plant & Machinery were missing and requested that either all the remaining machinery be provided or get an amount equivalent to the missing machinery returned/refunded to him. It was also alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rupees Two lakh from Complainant for settling his matter and getting his entire amount back. On request of Complainant, the accused had allegedly reduced the amount and asked him to pay the minimum bribe of Rs.70,000/-. CBI laid a trap and caught the Recovery Officer, DRT-I while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.70,000/- from Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused in Chandigarh and Lucknow which led to recovery of Rs.6 lakh (approx), property documents and few incriminating documents. The arrested accused is being produced today before the Competent Court at Chandigarh.
