CBI Arrests a Station Fire Officer for Accepting Bribe of Rs.30,000
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Station Fire Officer assigned to the Fire Station in Sector-38, Chandigarh, for allegedly requesting and accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000/- from the complainant.
On a complaint, a charge was filed against a Station Fire Officer assigned to the Fire Station in Sector-38, Chandigarh. The complainant allegedly sought for a Fire Safety Certificate on behalf of his client on April 25, 2022 for a SCO located in Sector-36D, Chandigarh. It was further claimed that after 4-5 site inspections, the accused failed to submit his fire safety report to the Chief Fire Officer, resulting in no Fire Safety Certificate being awarded to the applicant to date. When the complainant asked him to submit his report to the CFO, the accused allegedly wanted a payment of Rs.30,000/-.
The CBI set a trap for the Station Fire Officer, who was caught red-handed asking and taking a bribe of Rs.30,000/- from the complainant.
Searches were undertaken at the accused's home and office, resulting in the discovery of various papers.
The apprehended suspects will be brought before the Competent Court in Chandigarh today.
