CBI arrests eight persons on charge of mass rigging in NEET-UG 2022 Examination

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested eight accused including mastermind & solvers in a case related to mass rigging in the NEET UG-2022 examination conducted on 17.07.2022 (Sunday) by NTA under Ministry of Education (Govt of India) for the admission in MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ BSMS/ BUMS/ BHMS and other undergraduate medical courses.

On July 17, 2022 (Sunday), NTA under the Ministry of Education, Government of India (Gol), conducted the NEET UG exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, and other undergraduate medical programmes at approved/recognized Medical, Dental, AYUSH, and other colleges/deemed Universities/Institutes (AIIMS & JIPMER) in India. A case was filed against 11 accused on the allegations related Additionally, it was claimed that the accused (mastermind), a resident of Gautamnagar, Delhi, conspired with others, including some candidates, to set up arrangements to take the exam at various locations in Delhi and Haryana while posing as those candidates.

Additionally, it was claimed that the aforementioned individuals and their associates had amassed the user IDs and passwords of a select group of exam-takers and made the required changes to obtain the desired testing locations as they had intended. They are also accused of using the technique of combining and warping photos to make it easier to utilise proxy candidates to take the test. These candidates’ identity cards were being copied with the intention of creating counterfeit IDs.

The case’s culprit and solvers were apprehended while posing as other candidates in various examination centres and other locations in Delhi and Haryana during the course of the inquiry.

Two solvers were caught from center at Sector-81, Faridabad ; another solver from examination center at a school in Havelock Square, New Delhi & the mastermind was also apprehended from outside the said school ; another solver from examination center at a school in Kundan Colony, Ballabhgarh (Haryana) ; another solver from examination center at a Senior Secondary School, Patparganj, New Delhi ; one solver from examination center at Govt. Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Shakurpur, New Delhi and another person who was caught from the hostel of Safdarjung Hospital did not appear in the examination, however, forged Aadhar card of the candidate & other incriminating documents were recovered from him.

All of the apprehended suspects will appear before the Delhi-based competent court.

The probe is still ongoing.
