CBI arrests a proclaimed offender in Ludhiana after nearly a decade of absconding in an impersonation and cheating case involving a fake Parliament job promise.
CBI Arrests Decade-Long Absconder

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Jitendra Pathak, a proclaimed offender accused of impersonating an employee of the Lok Sabha Secretariat in New Delhi. Pathak had been absconding for nearly 10 years.
The CBI registered the case on July 13, 2009, against Pathak and others for allegedly cheating a private person by promising him a job in Parliament in exchange for Rs 50,000. After completing its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against Pathak and another accused in December 2009.
Pathak did not appear before the trial court after the chargesheet was filed. Despite repeated efforts by the authorities to trace him, he remained untraceable for several years.
Upon completion of legal formalities, the trial court declared Pathak as Proclaimed Offender on 28.09.2016.
During subsequent field verification, the CBI received inputs that Pathak was residing in Ludhiana, Punjab. He was arrested from Ludhiana on August 19, 2026, based on inputs and technical analysis in a successful operation launched by the agency.
