CBI Arrests MIB Official in Bribe Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Deputy Controller of Accounts (DCA) who was working as an Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), New Delhi, in a bribery case.
The CBI on August 18, 2026 registered a case against the officer on a complaint that he demanded a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from the complainant to expedite the processing of a file. After negotiations, the officer agreed to accept Rs 10 lakh to expedite the renewal of a private company’s contract, which was pending before him.
The CBI laid a trap on August 18 and caught the accused while accepting the Rs 10 lakh bribe through his wife. The public servant has been apprehended in connection with the case.
The investigation is currently underway.
