CBI Cracks Down on Railway Bribery in Rajasthan, 7 Arrested:

The CBI arrested seven people, including five railway officials, in two bribery cases involving alleged illegal payments for clearing bills in Rajasthan.
Two Bribery Cases Exposed

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested seven people, including five officials of North Western Railway (NWR) and two private persons, in two separate bribery cases in Jaipur and Bikaner.
In the first case, the CBI registered a case against an Office Superintendent of NWR, Jaipur. The official allegedly demanded and accepted bribes for processing and clearing bills related to work being carried out by a private company for NWR.
During the trap operation on August 13, the CBI arrested the Office Superintendent, an Assistant Financial Advisor and a Senior Section Officer of NWR, Jaipur, along with an employee of a private company based in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. A bribe of Rs 1.46 lakh was recovered from the accused.
The CBI also conducted searches at several locations in Jaipur and Delhi. During the searches, officials seized documents, electronic devices and Rs 9 lakh in cash.
In the second case, the CBI registered a case against a Senior Section Officer of NWR, Bikaner. The officer allegedly demanded and accepted bribes in exchange for favourably processing and clearing bills of a private company working under the Bikaner division.
The CBI arrested the Senior Section Officer, an Account Assistant of NWR, Bikaner, and an employee of a Kolkata-based private company during the trap operation. A bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh was recovered.
Searches were also carried out at several locations in Bikaner and Jaipur, during which documents and electronic devices were seized.
The CBI said the investigation in both cases is continuing.
