CBI Arrests WCL Official in Rs 40,000 Bribe Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Overseer (Civil) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Umred Area, in connection with an alleged bribery case.
The case was registered on September 30, 2026, after a complaint was received alleging that the official had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor. The money was allegedly sought for releasing payment against the contractor’s third bill for work being carried out for WCL.
According to the complaint, the contractor had been given a contract to construct two borewells and install submersible pumps, water pipelines and other related facilities to provide drinking water at the rehabilitation site of Pirwa village.
The CBI laid a trap on September 30 and allegedly caught the WCL official red-handed while accepting Rs 40,000 as a bribe. The official was subsequently arrested.
