December 2025: Crucial Tax Dates Every Taxpayer Must Know
Many important income-tax deadlines fall in December, and it is one of the busiest months for taxpayers. So people need to finish a lot of tasks before the year ends. These include filing late tax returns, paying advance tax, completing TDS-related work, and other essential tax duties for individuals, businesses, and government offices. The following are some important dates every taxpayer must know:
December 10, 2025: This deadline applies to all companies and individuals whose accounts need to be audited. It also includes partners of audited firms and their spouses (covered under Section 5A). The original due date was October 31, but the government gave extra time to finish the filings. Anyone whose accounts are audited must make sure they file their Income Tax Return for the 2025-26 assessment year by this new extended date.
December 15, 2025: By this date, Form 27C for November must be uploaded. Government offices also need to submit Form 24G for any TDS or TCS paid without using a challan. Both individuals and businesses must also pay the third instalment of advance tax for the 2026-27 assessment year.
In addition, TDS certificates for tax deducted in October under Sections 194-IA, 194-IB, 194M, and 194S must be issued by this day. Stock exchanges also need to file Form 3BB for any client code changes made in November.
December 30, 2025: By this date, recognised associations must file their client code change statement for November. Also, an individual who deducted TDS during November must submit the TDS challan-cum-statement. This makes sure all TDS deductions made in the month are accurately reported and recorded.
December 31, 2025: This is the last day to file belated or revised income tax returns for the assessment year 2025-26. Missing this deadline will result in delays in receiving refunds and will attract penalties.
Completing all the above tasks on time helps you avoid last-minute stress and saves you from paying unnecessary penalties/consequences, and ensures you stay fully compliant with tax rules.
