SoAL Schools Delhi: After ‘Schools of Specialised Excellence,’ Delhi will now have 12Schools of Applied Learning‘ starting next year, with the emphasis on the implementation of skills learned in the curriculum rather than rote learning, according to Delhi Education Minister Atishi.

The education department has been assigned Rs 16,575 crore by Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot for the financial year 2023-24, the highest allocation in the Delhi government’s budget since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power in the state.

Schools of Specialised Excellence: The Delhi government previously announced the model of Schools of Specialised Excellence for school children, where students from class 9 and above will be allowed to choose their specialization. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), performing arts, humanities, and higher 21st-century abilities are among the specialization options.

School Of Applied Learning (SoAL): Objective

  • Another type of school, named the School of Applied Learning (SoAL), has been budgeted for the coming year. This school will educate students from nursery to class 12.
  • Education will be divided into three parts: the primary year’s program, the middle year’s program, and the third part will be focused on different skills that can be used for the student’s participation in the economy.
  • The focus will not just be on regular disciplines, but what is their applicability in the daily day-to-day lives of students and the world around them.
  • From Grade 9 onwards, students will get to participate and interact with leaders from different industries so that by the time they finish their education, they are not just in a position to think about what it is they want to pursue, but they have already had that exposure to a high number of fields, industries, and businesses. – As said by the Delhi Education Minister Atishi.
