Don’t Miss Out! Reminder for All Practising CAs to Maintain Their Minimum Structured CPE Hours
As we all are aware that the new calendar year, i.e., January 01, 2026, to December 31, 2026, is approaching near, it is a gentle reminder to all practicing Chartered Accountants (CAs) that they are required to have a minimum of 20 Structured CPE (Continuing Professional Education) hours annually, as part of a total 40 CPE credit hours requirement, as per the rules of ICAI. This requirement is compulsory if they want to maintain their Certificate of Practice (COP) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), with specific rules for online/virtual vs. physical learning and topics like ethics and auditing standards.
Failure to meet the said requirement may lead to classification under the “Non-Compliant Category” in ICAI records; this will further restrict eligibility for peer review assignments and may also affect regulatory or ICAI verifications. This requirement has been developed to ensure all chartered accountants (CAs) are updated with the evolving professional standards and regulations.
The key CPE requirement for practising Chartered Accountants (CAs) aged below 60 years is 40 CPE credit hours per calendar year. Out of these, a minimum of 20 hours are mandated to be earned through structured learning activities (such as seminars, workshops, or similar formal programs), and the remaining 20 hours can be earned through either structured or unstructured learning (such as self-study, reading professional journals, or other relevant activities).
