ESIC Officer Convicted in Rs. 25,000 Bribery Case, Sentenced to One Year Jail

ESIC Officer Convicted in Rs. 25,000 Bribery Case, Sentenced to One Year Jail The Special Judge for PC Act cases in Satara convicted a public servant, Swapnil Jadhav, who was working as a Social Security Officer (SSO) with the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Satara, in a bribery case on February 10, 2026. The court sentenced him to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.
GST Commissioner Suspended Over Bribery Allegations
The case was registered by the CBI on March 28, 2016, after receiving a written complaint. It was alleged that Swapnil Jadhav demanded Rs. 30,000 as a bribe from the complainant to avoid imposing a penalty of Rs. 300,000 on the complainant’s firm for employing more than 10 workers. After negotiations, he agreed to take Rs. 25,000. The CBI then set a trap on the same day and caught him red-handed while accepting the Rs. 25,000 bribe, along with a private person. Both were arrested.

After completing the investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet on June 28, 2016, against Swapnil Jadhav (public servant) and Abhijeet Jadhav (private person). After the trial, the court convicted Swapnil Jadhav. However, the private person, Abhijeet Jadhav, was acquitted of all charges by the court.
