Fake Tax Raid in Sangli: Doctor Got Robbed of Cash and Jewellery Worth Rs 2 Crore Four people pretended to be income tax officials allegedly robbed a doctor from Sangli District. The group robbed him of Jewellery and cash worth approximately Rs 2 crore. This incident happened on September 14, 2025 (Sunday) night around 10:30 pm. The four people (including a woman) came to Dr. Jagannath Mehtre's house who runs a hospital in Kavathe Mahankal town. The four accused showed him identity cards and posed as Income Tax Department officers. They asked the doctor to investigate his house, and he allowed them in. The group investigates and searches both his residence and the hospital premises for an hour. During the search the group seized Jewellery and cash from both the residence and hospital. After an hour the group left his residence. The doctor then tried to contact his associates and realized that something was wrong. However, by Monday morning it became clear that the group were robbers.

Dr. Jagannath Mehtre straight away approached the police and filed a complaint. The superintendent of police (Sandip Ghuge) assigned Inspector (Satish Shinde) from the local crime branch to handle the case. The police inspector Satish started the investigation, and also the CCTV footage from the hospital, residence, and nearby areas is being checked. He is also trying to know more details of the group who were pretending to be IT officials. The police have launched a complete investigation to track down the fake officials group and recover the stolen cash and Jewellery.
