The Upcoming month is also very critical for tax professionals and as the holidays are on the table, the tax professionals need to plan things accordingly.

1st April 2024

Orissa Day: Odisha Day, also Utkala Dibasa, is celebrated on 1 April in the Indian state of Odisha in memory of the formation of the state as a separate state out of Bihar and Orissa Province with the addition of Koraput District and Ganjam District from the Madras Presidency on 1 April 1936.

April Fools Day: April Fools’ Day or All Fools’ Day is an annual custom on 1 April consisting of practical jokes and hoaxes. Jokesters often expose their actions by shouting “April Fools!” at the recipient.

National Maritime Day: The National Maritime Day is an annual celebration held in India on April 5th. This day honours the brave men who spend months at sea, making enormous contributions to India’s worldwide trade and economy.

7th April 2024

World Health Day: World Health Day is an annual worldwide health awareness day celebrated on April 7 by the World Health Organization and other affiliated organizations.

9th April 2024

Chaitra Navratri: Chaitra Navratri has special significance from the religious point of view because on the first day of Chaitra Navratri, Adishakti appeared and on the request of the Goddess, Brahma ji started the work of creation. Therefore, the Hindu New Year starts from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada.

Ugadi: Ugadi or Yugadi, also known as Samvatsarādi, is a Hindu New Year’s Day celebrated in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Goa in India. The cycle is actually 60 years long, with each year having its own name. The first day of each year is known as ‘Ugadi’.

Eid Ul Fitra: The festival of Eid Ul Fitr is the biggest festival of the Islamic religion. Eid ul Fitr is celebrated every year on the first day of the 10th Shawwal.

Gudi Padwa: Gudi Padwa is a spring festival that marks the beginning of the lunisolar new year for Hindus, particularly those of Marathi and Konkani origin. It is celebrated in and around Maharashtra, Goa, and Damaon during the beginning of Chaitra, the first month of the lunisolar Hindu year.

It is celebrated as a spring harvest festival, particularly in Punjab and Northern India. This holiday is also celebrated by other Indian civilizations and the diaspora.

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre: The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in pre-Independence India on 13 April 1919, when the acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered British troops to open fire on unarmed Indian civilians. This led to widespread bloodshed and resulted in the death of 379 innocent Indians and over 1,000 injuries.

BR Ambedkar Remembrance Day: Ambedkar Remembrance Day is an annual event in India held on April 14th in memory of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The significance of this day is that Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891.

17th April 2024

Ram Navami: Rama Navami is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Rama, one the most popularly revered deities in Hinduism, also known as the seventh avatar of Vishnu.

18th April 2024

World Heritage Day: The International Day for Monuments and Sites, also known as World Heritage Day, is an annual international observance observed on April 18th around the world and includes a variety of events such as visits to monuments and heritage sites, conferences, round tables, and newspaper articles.

Mahavir Jayanti: Mahavir Janma Kalyanak is an important and pure celebration in Jainism. It celebrates the birth of Mahavira, the twenty-fourth and last Tirthankara of the current Avasarpiṇī. On the Gregorian calendar, the holiday falls in either March or April.

22nd April 2024

World Earth Day: Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

23rd April 2024

Hanuman Jayanti: Hanuman Jayanti is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of the Hindu deity, and one of the protagonists of the Ramayana, Hanuman.

26th April 2024

World Intellectual Property Day: The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) established the event in 2000 to “raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks, and designs impact on daily life” and “to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of economies and societies across the globe”.

30th April 2024

Ayushman Bharat Diwas: Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated all throughout India on April 30th. This day commemorates the Ayushman Bharat Yojna, which was started in 2018 by India’s current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The Yojna is a system designed to provide healthcare benefits to large segments of Indian people who cannot afford the necessary medical services for themselves.
